Lathe Machine’s Suppliers
Machine Cutting Services was established in 1983 and since then we have undertaken numerous on-site machining operations at power stations, petro-chemical plants, heavy engineering plants, on mines and at offshore related ventures. We will develop a tool for specialist application and are well known for our innovative designs.
Want to understand what a lathe is and can be used for?
A lathe is a tool that rotates the workpiece about an axis of rotation to perform various operations such as cutting, sanding, knurling, drilling, deformation, facing, and turning, with tools that are applied to the workpiece to create an object with symmetry about that axis.
Lathes are used in woodturning, metalworking, metal spinning, thermal spraying, parts reclamation, and glass-working. Lathes can be used to shape pottery, the best-known design being the potter's wheel. Most suitably equipped metalworking lathes can also be used to produce most solids of revolution, plane surfaces and screw threads or helices.
More About Our Lathe Machine
Plenty of power in a compact package. Gets the job done with just 7 inches (177.8 mm) of radial clearance. Its simplified mounting, bolted directly to the end of the shaft, speeds setup and reduces costly downtime for work on shaft diameters from 1.5 to 9 inches (38.1 to 228.6 mm).
Max. Turning Reach: 12.5 inches (317.5 mm)
Shaft Diameters: 1.5 - 9 inches (38.1 - 228.6 mm)
Power Options: Electric / Pneumatic
The advantage first regardless of whether you are running a cnc or manual lathe. You can turn round stock material meaning you save on the amount of material you waste, if you were to machine a square piece of material stock on a lathe or cnc mill your time is wasted and your material is a waste factor as well.
You can also, if utilizing a cnc lathe utilize a feature that is for cutting round or turned materials at greater lengths like the feeding on a Swiss style lathe allowing the cuts to be made in extended lengths of more then the industry standard 3 times the length to the diameter as well the lathe also offers two options, a tail stock (holds the extended material farther out from the main spindle or chuck or a sub spindle that can pull the material longer from the main spindle or chuck (also acting as a tail stock) as the cutting of the material diameter is being cut both can support the material reducing chatter and also many cnc lathes have (SSV) Spindle Speed Variation harmonics are reduced cutting at greater lengths
Today on a lathe you can use live tooling and Y axis (CNC) to do a lot of side milling, groves, slots, and cutting, etc.
